The FitHER Circle
Belfast-based women's fitness coach offering fitness classes and personal training for mums (new and not so new!) and mums to be. We found out more from owner Carla Prentice:
What is your role within your business?
Founder and Female Exercise Specialist.
What inspired you to set up your business?
I have been involved in training and sport at a high level for many years, rowing for Ireland as a Junior and running competitively in my early 20s. I found training during pregnancy and the early postpartum days challenging as I had to scale back my usual training and I didn’t always know the appropriate exercises for the stage I was at. I also found there was a real lack of knowledgeable experts in pre and postnatal fitness in my area. Hence why I decided to study pre and postnatal exercise and nutrition so that I could help other women continue to enjoy exercise during this unique time in the safe hands of an expert.
In your opinion, what makes your business special?
I am incredibly passionate about empowering women, whether they are pre or postnatal mums, busy working women or older ladies to get moving more and to find the time to do something for themselves which is an investment in their long term health. Exercise is a powerful (and often underused) tool for staying healthy, happy and strong!
What are your hopes and dreams for your business in the future?
I am launching my fitness classes in late September (FitHER Bumps, FitHER Babies and FitHER In the Park). I would love to see these classes thrive, be a fun place for women to form new friendships and help women achieve their fitness goals.
What do you love about your local neighbourhood?
I love the friendly faces, green spaces and gorgeous coffee shops and restaurants.
What local independent businesses do you love?
Refill Quarter, Bread and Banjo Bakery, Two Sisters and Kaffe O.
In your opinion, what has been the biggest highlight of running a business in Belfast?
I love the opportunity to be able to bring together women and mums from my local area and provide a space where they can form new friendships!
What are some of your hobbies and interests outside of your business?
I am a mum to two little ones and love exploring the great outdoors with them!
What advice would you give aspiring entrepreneurs?
If you have a dream, go for it now and don't hold back until the right moment as it might never come.
